Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2026
Wreck Lens is published by Mircules VOF, Nieuwegein, the Netherlands. Mircules VOF is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. You can reach us at support@mircules.com, or through the contact form at https://wrecklens.app/contact.
In short
Wreck Lens does not collect personal data. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party code in the app. What you read and save stays on your device.
Data we collect
None. The complete archive of wrecks, with every photograph, ships inside the app. The app does not ask for your name or email address, and it does not record or send what you read. Saved wrecks, your filters and the last wreck you viewed are stored on your device only.
Network use
Wreck Lens makes no network requests to Mircules VOF or to anyone acting for us. Two features use the network through Apple:
- Map tiles. The world map and the small maps in a wreck's dossier are drawn by Apple Maps, which downloads its own map tiles. Those requests go to Apple under Apple's privacy policy, not ours.
- In-app purchase. Buying or restoring Wreck Lens Pro is handled by the App Store; see below.
Location
If you tap Locate Me on the map, or open Wrecks Near You (a Pro feature), Wreck Lens asks iOS for your location while the app is in use. Your location is used on your device, in the moment, to centre the map or to work out which wrecks are closest. It is not stored, logged or sent to us or to anyone else. You can turn this permission off at any time in Settings.
In-app purchases
Wreck Lens Pro is a one-time purchase processed entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details. The app only receives confirmation from the App Store that Pro is unlocked.
Widget
The Lost at Sea Today widget reads a small list of wreck names and dates that the app writes to a shared folder on your device. Nothing leaves the device.
Analytics, advertising and crash reporting
The app contains no analytics, advertising or crash-reporting code. If you have chosen to share diagnostics with Apple in your device settings, Apple may give us anonymised, aggregated crash reports. That is handled by Apple under its own policy and your settings, not by code in the app.
This website
This website uses no cookies, analytics or trackers. If you send a message through the contact form, we receive the name, email address and message you enter, through our hosting provider Netlify. We use it only to answer you, and delete it when it is no longer needed.
Children
Wreck Lens collects no data from anyone, of any age. Some records describe loss of life in plain terms, and younger readers may find them upsetting.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you. Because the app collects none, there is usually nothing to access. For contact form messages, write to us and we will act on your request. You may also complain to the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.
